Why I feel so passionate about COUNSELLING?I love the process of self reflection and self discovery. I dove into deep personal growth and I loved it so much that I decided to become a counsellor. I wanted to create the experience for others that I was having. I look forward to my sessions with clients and truly care for each person I work with. I love the feeling that people get when they think they are in an impossible situation and then with some support, they are able to get through to see a whole realm of hope and possibilities on the other side.
I feel passionate about providing a safe space for those who experience racism. As a person who has a lived experience I know it is crucial to have good support from a counsellor who has been through it. Part of my personal work included discovering that I am an HSP ( Highly Sensitive Person ). Understanding this and crafting a life that works with my brain type has been life changing and I understand many of the challenges that come with being an HSP. |
Spirituality & Growth
Through a very serious back injury in my early twenties I reconnected to my spirituality. I believe it had a tremendous impact on my physical recovery and has led me to and through many phases of emotional growth and healing. It wasn't a specific religion or method of spirituality, it was something I just knew and could feel deeply. It was like a piece of me was missing or ignored and I finally welcomed it home. I had gone through an awakening that moved me to my core and helped me believe in something bigger than myself. This led me to discover transpersonal psychology and fall in love with counselling all together. I feel it is important to support each individual in their own beliefs and provide a safe space to explore and grow.
Education and Counselling Method
Aaron Wong is a Master Therapeutic Counsellor (MTC) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT). He also practices EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique ) and has completed the Elaine Aron's Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) course.
Although Aaron Wong is a practicing Naturopathic Physician, please be advised if you contact him through Empathic Heart Counseling he would be acting as solely your counsellor and not your Naturopathic Physician. If you are interested in both services please book and enquire with Butterfly Naturopathic Medical Clinic.
Aaron Wong is a teaching and practicing Naturopathic Physician and Counsellor. His experience as a clinical supervisor and Counselling instructor has had him mentoring hundreds of students including Medical Doctors, Naturopathic Doctors, Chiropractors, Practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nurses, Midwives, Massage Therapists, and Counsellors.. He is the Clinical Director of Butterfly Naturopathic Medical Clinic in North Vancouver. He earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, where he has now been a Clinic Faculty Supervisor, supervising 3rd and 4th year students in their clinical rotations, for many years.
