Why I feel so passionate about COUNSELLING?As long as I can remember I have had a passionate desire to help, human, animals, plants you name it if help is needed I am deeply moved to nurture. I especially love empowering people to learn tools they can use for life. I have had the opportunity to navigate through many different, sometimes very challenging, life circumstances. Along the way I have acquired training, experience, and tools to assist others in the journey of life. I am inspired and moved regularly by the people I work with and am extremely grateful to be able to practice something I love so deeply. I am constantly in awe of human nature and emotion and consider it an honour each and every time I am let into someones inner world or life journey.

Why I love hypnotherapy?
I fell in love with Ericksonian style hypnotherapy pretty quickly. It is a beautiful indirect approach that can sometimes get to the root of whatever is driving the behavior patterns you wish to change or enhance.
As I was looking into hypnosis, and at first I was put off, I felt that performance hypnosis was quite jarring and I wasn't sure I wanted to loose control as the people on stage did. I had no idea there was hypnotherapy approach that was permissive, indirect and accommodating to individual needs. When I learned that a hypnotist of any sort actually can't control you or make you do something you don't want to, I was excited to try it. After I had my own experiences I wanted to provide this opportunity for clients as welI, so I completed my hypnotherapy counselling diploma in addition to my counselling education.

How did I get through tough life situations?
1) I found support and a community that understood me.
Sometimes this felt impossible! I kept looking into different groups and communities that seemed like a good fit. I ended up discovering Reiki and a community that came with it that seemed to have many people who spoke my language. I also learned how to open up to people around me, gradually I found friends who also seemed to have similar experiences and I didn’t feel so alone. I also found a counsellor who also had similar beliefs with whom I could speak freely of my spiritual thoughts and experiences.
2) I focused on spiritual and personal growth.
I had to discover what caused me to continue to create the same patterns. I had to dig deep and honestly look at what my behavior patterns were and what I was believing about myself when I continued those behavior patterns.
3) I learned about my gifts, passions and values.
Through my spiritual and personal growth work, supportive community and counselling that was a good fit for me. I discovered I have gifts for, intuitive arts, singing, artistic and creative expression, teaching, and counselling, I discovered I have passion for helping people. I realized my gifts are my passion and above all I also discovered I have really important values that I can use as tools to guide my life. I realized when I am guided by my gifts, passions, and values I am happy and can navigate life's challenges without feeling constantly and relentlessly shut down, exhausted, and overwhelmed.
Education and Counselling Method
Transpersonal counselling psychology diploma, Hypnotherapy Counselling Diploma, registered counsellor with ACCT, completed the Elaine Aron's Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) course, EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique ) training level 2 and Reiki master.
I counsel from a combination of perspectives and techniques that include Transpersonal, Hypnotherapy, Family Systems Theory, and Person centered therapy, Gestalt, EFT ( Emotional Freedom Techniques ).
Transpersonal counselling is centered on the spiritual aspects of human life and Family Systems theory is based on who you became in the family you grew up in. Therefore, during counselling I will ask you questions about your family history and look at how it may relate to your current situation. We will examine patterns in your life that you may feel are not effective, look at the beliefs that drive those patterns, and explore new options. During counselling, strong emotions and feeling can arise, so overcoming your own personal problems may require courage and persistence.
